The Riverside County Juvenile Justice and Delinquency Prevention Commission (JJDPC) honored a distinguished group of individuals and organizations that have made extraordinary contributions to the lives of justice-involved and at-risk youth in the County of Riverside.

“The JJDPC is proud to recognize community caregivers, staff from county agencies and community-based organizations who go above and beyond in their unwavering dedication to serve youth in our communities,” JJDPC Chair Christopher Collopy said.  “They are all transforming young lives in positive and meaningful ways.”

Awards were presented in several categories and the Corona-Norco Unified School District and the City of Corona Police Department Prop 47 Program was recognized as a winner of the Community Delinquency Prevention Award.

The Prop 47 Program is a partnership between CNUSD and the Corona Police Department, Riverside County Sheriff’s Department, Hathaway Sycamore, and California Family Life Center.

The program was designed to address the needs of at-risk youth and youth already involved with the juvenile justice system. The Prop 47 Program is a collaborative effort to decrease juveniles in the juvenile justice system and provide mentorship and mental health programs for juvenile offenders.

The Prop 47 program design has three goals.

For the past three years, the Prop 47 program has seen a 95% success rate with juveniles participating in the services. During the evaluation of the program, CNUSD and the Corona Police Department’s services were described as a model for school districts, and they successfully obtained a second 3-year grant renewal for the program.
